Letter from the President

Greetings from the Board and Officers of the Commonwealth Association for Financial Professionals. As president I am pleased to welcome you to another year of interesting programs and member benefits. For over 20 years CAFP has been providing financial professionals of Central Virginia the opportunity to network and learn through a variety of presentations and speakers.

For the 2010-2011 year we plan to build on the overwhelming success of our Spring Training Program held last May. Through the visionary leadership of our past president, Robert McNutt, the spring training received outstanding evaluations for the venue, lunch and most importantly, the speakers. I hope you had an opportunity to attend. The Board plans to present much of the same in our programs this year. Through these programs you will have the opportunity to earn up to 12 Certified Treasury Professional credits, meeting the minimum requirement established by the Association for Financial Professionals.

We will continue to hold most of our monthly meetings at SunTrust Bank headquarters in Richmond. Many of you are familiar with those accommodations and they do a great job hosting our events. One idea we would like to explore is occasionally moving the meeting to various geographic locations of our membership to reach out to more members and prospective members. An additional benefit might be to tour interesting facilities or attract speakers from within those regions. If you have any suggestions for such a “road trip” please contact me or one of the board members.

The CAFP is a great way to expand your knowledge and network with your peers, while earning CTP or CPE credits at a reasonable cost. In keeping with the current economic times our membership rates will remain the same this year. To join or renew your membership, please complete the application found on our website and return to CAFP along with your membership fee. Should you have any questions or comments, please contact Robin Ritter, Vice President of Membership at 804-784-6307 or me at 804-225-2648.

Wishing you the best,

Robert J. Schmitt, CCM

President, CAFP
